This was the first of two friendlies in three days against N Ireland. Before the game kicked off there was a presentation to Jess Fishlock for achieving 100 caps. A fantastic achievement being the first Welsh women to achieve this. Jess was reverted back to captain for the day in recognition of her feat. There was also a celebration of 50 caps for Angharad James (how long before 100?).
Wales took a deserved early lead but could not capitalise on it, N Ireland eqalised on the half hour. Wales disappointment soon disappeared when Wales went ahead to a cracking volley from the women of the day – Jess. So good a volley it was that I missed it with my camera! Wales increased they lead soon after half time. Despite close afforts a fourth was not to be. In the dying minutes a number of substitutes were given a chance of some match time. A positive performance from today, hope this continues to Fridays game.
